Refund and cancellation policy

Cancel simply. No hidden exit fee.

Silicon subscriptions are designed to be easy to stop. This policy explains Studio's trial, paid subscription cancellation, first-payment refunds and what happens when a service does not work as promised.

Effective 13 August 2026Consumer self-serve subscriptions
Paid subscriptionsCancel any time

Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period.

Studio trialNo card to start

No payment method at day 14 means the trial ends without a charge.

First paid charge14-day refund window

Consumer self-serve customers can request a full refund within 14 days of the first paid charge.

1. Cancelling a paid subscription

Silicon Studio is the current public self-serve subscription and can be cancelled through the Stripe Customer Portal available from Silicon. We do not charge a cancellation fee. Existing legacy or beta Academy/Complete subscriptions, where present, can also be managed through the available billing route.

Unless consumer law gives you a different right, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. You keep paid access until that date and no further renewal should be taken after the cancellation is scheduled.

2. Studio's 14-day free trial

Eligible Studio educators receive one 14-day self-serve trial. No card is required to begin the trial. If no required payment method is added before the trial ends, Studio access is removed at the end of the trial and no subscription payment is taken.

If you add billing details to continue Studio, the first paid charge is due when the trial ends. You can cancel before that charge to avoid starting the paid subscription.

3. First paid charge: 14-day refund window

For consumer self-serve subscriptions, Silicon offers a full refund if you ask within 14 days of the first paid charge for that subscription. For the current Studio launch, this runs from Studio’s first payment after the free trial. The same policy continues to apply to any earlier Academy or Complete consumer subscription that remains active.

This policy is intended to be at least as generous as applicable statutory cooling-off rights. If consumer law gives you a stronger right in your circumstances, that legal right takes priority.

To request a first-payment refund, email contact@siliconacademy.co.uk from the email used for your Silicon account and include the plan and charge date.

4. Renewal payments

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Please cancel before the next renewal date if you do not want another billing period.

A renewal is not automatically refundable solely because a customer forgot to cancel. However, contact us promptly if a renewal was taken unexpectedly. We will apply any statutory cooling-off or refund right that applies and may also make a discretionary refund depending on the circumstances.

5. Duplicate charges and billing errors

If Silicon or Stripe takes a duplicate payment or an incorrect amount because of a billing error, contact us and we will investigate and refund any amount that was wrongly taken.

6. Faulty, unavailable or misdescribed service

Your statutory rights are not limited by this policy. If paid digital content or services are materially faulty, not as described, or not supplied with the standard required by law, you may be entitled to a remedy such as repeat performance, a price reduction or refund depending on the circumstances.

7. How refunds are paid

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe. The time it takes to appear is controlled by Stripe, the card network and your bank or card issuer.

Refunding a payment does not necessarily delete your Silicon account or learning data. Account and data deletion are separate actions described in the Privacy notice.

8. Organisation and business purchases

Schools, tutoring organisations and other business customers may have different cancellation and refund terms in a written organisation agreement. Consumer-only statutory rights do not necessarily apply to business purchases.
